Bettie Fontaine Thompson ’69 wrote and published her autobiography, “God’s Hand On My Life: He Has Never Let Me Go.” It is now for sale on Amazon and Barnes and Noble and will soon be for sale at many other retail outlets.

Brenda Hill Pollard ’71 was reappointed by Governor Roy Cooper to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Advisory Commission. She has been appointed to public service by Governor Hunt, Governor Easley, Governor Perdue, Governor McCrory, and Governor Cooper.

Susan Summerell Lehmann ’78 and her husband, Eric, have just moved from Louisville, Kentucky to Ocean Isle Beach. They are excited to be back home in North Carolina!

Shelbra Bullock ’91 is excited to share that Sarai Tutorial & Enrichment Program, Inc. (STEP, Inc.) was voted WRAL Voters’ Choice Awards 2022, Best Tutoring Center. She is the Founder and President of the organization. 

Regina Tripp Caldwell ’91 is a Basic Skills Instructor in the Pathfinders program at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh. She lives in Holly Springs with her husband and golden doodle, Naya. They have a 21-year-old son at East Carolina University majoring in Cybersecurity and a 19-year-old daughter at Appalachian State University majoring in Speech Pathology.

Sara-Beth Colon Jeffrey ’92 graduated from The University of Central Florida with a Master of Arts in Instructional Design and Technology in eLearning, Modeling and Simulations in August 2020.

Katherine Costa Goldfaden ’96 ’98 was promoted to Vice President of Brand Strategy for LM Restaurants, a local hospitality management company with 13 brands and 29 locations across the Southeast. Katherine lives in Raleigh with her husband, Andrew, and two sons, Ben (11) and Luke (9).

Katie Holland ’02’s father, Fred Holland, passed away on February 4, 2022.

Allison Moore Pridgen ’02 got engaged to Joel Murphy on August 20, 2022. They are planning a fall/winter 2023 wedding. Allison was also named Director of School Advancement at Community Christian School in Wilson in September 2022.

Jillian Deignan ’03’s son, James Gerard, was born on June 23, 2023.

Niki Dobbins ’06 and her husband, Alex, welcomed Alfred Carter Weathersby on February 25, 2022.

Erika Galluppi Simon ’06 was recently named Faculty Senate President for Nash Community College after serving as Vice President since 2017. 

Laura Beth Price Staton ’08 welcomed her baby boy, Finn Price Staton, on October 18, 2022. He is completely adored by big sister, Eliza (6), and big brother, Beckham (3).

Cynthia Mandese ’09 is currently working in Chatham County at Pittsboro Elementary as a first-grade teacher. She is also involved in local theater and film productions.

Komiel Oliver ’11 joined Alliance Healthcare in March 2022 in the new position of Community Health Coordinator. 

Courtney Long Rabon ’11 is currently a First Grade Teacher and is working on her Master of Arts in Teaching.

Sierra Clarke Sprehe ’11 accepted a position as Marketing Communications Coordinator for UNC Health.

Antonisia Sneed Baynes ’12 and her wife, Brittney, welcomed their son, August, on August 19, 2022. August is their 3rd child, joining big sisters Eden (10), and Ivy (6).

Martha Davis King ’12 started classes in Spring 2023 for her degree in Veterinary Technology at San Juan College. Her goal is to become licensed in the state of North Carolina and continue working at the North Carolina State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Raleigh.

Mary Katherine Clark ’13 graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry degree from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry on May 7, 2022. She will complete an ocular disease residency with the W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center beginning in July 2022.

Brie Dorsey Hardy ’14 is thrilled to announce of birth of Julia Imaani Hardy, born on January 3, 2023.

Zoe Littmann ’14 graduated from WPU in 2014 with a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. After, she attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro where she completed her Masters in Public Health degree. Since then, she has worked at a local Clinical Research Organization. In September 2022, her boyfriend, dog and she became nomads, and they now live in a trailer and travel all around the country. Follow their journey at

Macy Beaman ’15 graduated from WPU in 2015 with a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Following graduation, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in May 2022. She and her dog, Mowgley, have since moved to Augusta, Georgia where she is completing a residency in Prosthodontics.

Megan Mansfield ’15 was inducted into the West Carteret Hall of Fame for basketball and volleyball. She played volleyball at WPU.

Christiane Newell ’15 was promoted at Saint Mary’s School in October 2022 to Marketing and Communication Specialist.

Christian Williams ’15 got married in 2018, became a new dad in 2020, started working as a High School Principal in 2020, and finished his Master’s Degree in 2020 at Regent. He is now working on his EdD in Educational Leadership at Anderson University and will graduate in May 2024.

Maya Bryant ’17 moved to New York City and started a job at the marketing agency Serino Coyne, where she works on marketing campaigns for Broadway and off-Broadway shows.

Elizabeth Boyette EsDorn ’17 graduated from WPU in 2017 with a degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in psychology. Since graduating, she got married and became a mother to a son. She has created a successful career in the finance and network marketing industries, working with SECU for five years. She now works for them as a Senior ATM and Cash Analyst and lives in Wake Forest.

Hannah Godbold Hawley ’17 graduated from WPU with a Musical Theatre major in 2017. Hannah married her middle school sweetheart, Tyler Hawley, in December 2019. In 2020, Hannah opened her own performing arts studio in Fayetteville called HanMarie’s Performing Arts & Events.

Michael Marchetta ’17 graduated with a Master of Science in Analytics from the Institute for Advanced Analytics at North Carolina State University in May 2021. He also married Sarah Marchetta on January 8, 2022, in Naples, Florida.

Evonna Sampedro ’17 graduated from WPU in 2017 with a degree in Business Administration. After WPU, she continued her education at Meredith College where she received her Masters of Business Administration. During this time, she managed a toy and gift store and interned at the public accounting firm BDO. In January 2022, she began full-time work with BDO and is currently a second-year Senior Audit Associate there. Now, she is pursuing her Certified Public Accountant license at Wake Technical Community College while still working full-time.

Jonas Monanteras ’18 celebrated his 5th year anniversary in January 2023 of interning and starting work at Horizon Productions, a video and immersive production company. There, he has built several virtual and augmented reality experiences that have been demoed and deployed across the world.

Erienne Dickman ’20 was named a “Top 20 Under 40 Business Trailblazers” by Business North Carolina Magazine.

Miranda Lopez Vega ’20 shares that while these past few years have been crazy, she and her husband are healthy and happy. They are proud parents of three fur children and are renovating their home.

Jeni Myers ’21 is now working at WPU’s Office of Advancement as the Advancement and Alumni Relations Events Manager. While attending WPU, she enjoyed her work as a Resident Assistant, DEEP Leader, and Orientation so much that she wanted to make a career out of it — however, she just didn’t know where her niche was. During her last semester at WPU, she worked in the Office of Advancement as an intern. There, she learned about fundraising and philanthropy and discovered the field she wanted to go into.

Megan Clark ’22 started working as the Booking Coordinator at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

Davyous Melvin ’22 recently graduated and is currently attending the University of North Carolina Wilmington to pursue a Master of Education with a specialization in Higher Education. He was also hired as an Admissions Counselor at WPU.
